PixInsight Workshop - Like hisses and pops on a vinyl record, noise in digital images is the bane of every deep-sky astrophotographer. It robs your images of fine detail, gives them a grainy appearance, and limits how large they can be displayed and still look good. Excess noise also prevents you from using other enhancement techniques -- like sharpening – to their full potential, since you’ll be enhancing the noise along with the signal. Dialing Down the Noise and Dialing Up the Detail Recorded Workshop Purchase Like hisses and pops on a vinyl record, noise in digital images is the bane of every deep-sky astrophotographer. It robs your images of fine detail, gives them a grainy appearance, and limits how large they can be displayed and still look good. Excess noise also prevents you from using other enhancement techniques -- like sharpening – to their full potential, since you’ll be enhancing the noise along with the signal. But once our images are denoised, it’s possible to use other set of processing techniques to reveal exquisite detail in our images, without enhancing the noise. In this workshop, Ron and Warren will expand on the various processes and scripts available for noise reduction and detail enhancement for linear and non-linear images. Whether you use a One-Shot Color or Monochrome camera, incorporating effective noise reduction and detail enhancement into your workflow is essential for getting the most from your data! WHAT YOU’LL GET: Attendees of this workshop will receive the following: Image files that are used in the virtual workshop Updated process icon sets to use on your own data – including TGVDenoise _______________________________ Warren Keller and Ron Brecher have teamed up to deliver a series of information-packed Virtual Workshops covering deep-sky image processing with PixInsight. This will have applications to noise reduction, sharpening, making masks, and more. Background modelization – Getting into the finer details DBE, including how to compensate for missing flats, how to sample an image thoroughly, even in places where it is unwise to place a sample point. Noise reduction: How to dial in the right settings to remove noise before and after delinearization; when to use MURE Denoise script. Special OSC topics: Debayering (when and how), CFA Drizzle, and Superpixel We'll show you again how to make and retrieve an icon set containing your processing steps, in the order you prefer.
