Dialing Down the Noise

and

 Dialing Up the Detail

Recorded Workshop

Like hisses and pops on a vinyl record, noise in digital images is the bane of every deep-sky astrophotographer. It robs your images of fine detail, gives them a grainy appearance, and limits how large they can be displayed and still look good. Excess noise also prevents you from using other enhancement techniques -- like sharpening – to their full potential, since you’ll be enhancing the noise along with the signal.

But once our images are denoised, it’s possible to use other set of processing techniques to reveal exquisite detail in our images, without enhancing the noise.

In this workshop, Ron and Warren will expand on the various processes and scripts available for noise reduction and detail enhancement for linear and non-linear images.

Whether you use a One-Shot Color or Monochrome camera, incorporating effective noise reduction and detail enhancement into your workflow is essential for getting the most from your data!

WHAT YOU’LL GET:

Attendees of this workshop will receive the following:

  • Image files that are used in the virtual workshop

  • Updated process icon sets to use on your own data – including TGVDenoise
